Thwarted Love

I was reading a fellow bloggers post today and she was talking about past loves and it got me to thinking about mine. It got me to thinking about Bernard Mackey and James Stewart.

Those two were the loves of my life. They were the air I breathed. They were my first thoughts when I awoke in the morning and the last thought when I laid my head on my pillow at night. They were my everything……when I was in the 5th grade.

See, I hear the scoffs of you non believers but trust me, our love was real. Well, maybe just my love. They really didn’t know my name, but that is beside the point. It didn’t mean our love was any less meaningful.

We left 5th grade, had different homerooms and somehow lost track of each other.

It’s sad really. I strongly feel that if I were able to muster up enough confidence to tell them how I felt, one of them would be my husband now and my pesky 2 year marriage 13 years ago would never have happened. I’m sure of it. A 32 year love affair thwarted.

Bernard or James, if either of you are reading this, call me.

You know what, I changed my mind. Bernard looked back then as if he'd wind up in prison someday so scratch him. James, it's just you and me baby.

  1. Wow that took me back to my first love. I was 12 years old and even know he was much older than me I just KNEW we would marry someday. But, that damn John Travolta got away from me.

  2. :) You could hire a private detective to hunt them down. Perhaps, they're waiting anxiously to return the love you felt.

  3. Mine was Troy Patterson. Admired him from afar for many years in school, his lush dark eye lashes. I never had the guts to speak to him. I've even searched for him in facebook and friends reunited but can't find him...sigh.

  9. I would imagine that Bernard Mackey guy being called Bernie Mac at times.

That's even more interesting than a guy named James Stewart.

I remember a school kid named Jesse Helms. He was African-American. I don't think he'd like the politics of the famous man who had that name, who was pro-segregation.

I'm sure he'll read this and seek you out (hey while you're at it could you find my kindergarten love, Scott Emmett?)

  14. You make me laugh Diva! They say you are suppose to have one true love that you never really have. I am not sure if that is true or not. But I do hope you James does call you!

  15. Nothing says 'true love' than a guy who can do long division.

    Good luck with that.

  16. My first love goes way back. I was in pre-school and his name was Little Boy, Little Boy. Yes, so nice everybody said it twice! I loved him deeply ... until he knocked me off my tri-cycle. Then I had to take him down. Even then I knew love was not supposed to hurt!

  17. Ahhhh past loves. I lost track of my first love, but we lived down the street from each other for most of my time in maryland. Then, the other day on facebook his profile popped up under "people you might now" and I haven't gotten the nerve yet to friend message him. I think I'm waiting to see if he'll do it first.
