Whew!

Hello All,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful and joyous holiday last week. It was great to have my family around and enjoy laughter and good food and stories of the past but I must make one declaration. I AM BOYCOTTING NEXT YEARS HOLIDAY SEASON ALL TOGETHER!!

Sure, I had a great time and Santa was really good to me (I received a fanfreakingtastic digital camera so you all might see a motherload of pictures popping up on this blog. I'm just saying) but the cooking and cleaning and hosting is exhausting of which I'm still not recovered so I decided I'm not doing this crap again next year. I am completely boycotting the whole thing.

Just think how much time and energy I will save not to mention money if I don't have to run to the store and elbow or gut punch people for the last roaster chicken or ham or turkey or sweater I simply must have. No more cleaning, cooking or gift wrapping. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.

Yeah, I think a boycott is the way to go.

  1. Yeah, yeah. I hear ya. Been there, said that, failed to follow through too! I found I missed the hectic junk too much to NOT keep on with it but I have cut back a lot on the baking/cooking and shopping as well. Made life a trifle more relaxing that way.
    Happy New Year!

  8. I hear ya about the boycotting thing. I just wanted the damn day to be done!

Wow..Santa was good to you wasn't he? Digital cameras are so cool, I hope you enjoy using it.

    Happy New Year!

  9. I didn't go over the top with the cleaning, decorating or cooking. In fact, I burnt my hand on Christmas day making dinner so I gave up on everything.

Things were still great. Being with family and friends was all that was important. Even if half of what I planned didn't get done.

  10. Well, I had said that from now on I couldn't do both the friend thing and the family thing, so I would have to really cut back on one of them, and what kind of an ungrateful child would I be if I chose my friends over my family.

So I had said that this was going to be my last year to have the big deal with my friends. Only this year was just so much fun, I can't do it.

On the other hand, the gift exchange part of Christmas with my family was really lame, and I wouldn't mind skipping that at all.

So at risk of again being accused of being a control freak, I'm trying to find a way to change the family thing, to tone it down a bit or something.

As mom is always saying that it's the thought that counts and she just likes having everyone together, couldn't we do something instead of buying gifts, something like a cookie swap? Only too many of us need to be on a diet for that. Is there a healthy version of the cookie swap? Is there such a thing as a salad swap?

  14. Oh my god! You hosted the party? You are one brave girl. I'm proud of you. I just went to my mom's house and she did all the cooking. Good times for me! Have a happy new year diva!

  15. I'm boycotting New Years Eve. I'll just drink beer on my sofa and eat a bag of Doritos. That's what I call relaxing.

  18. That was my mantra this year.... NO MORE CHRISTMAS!

Then at the 11th hour, I ended up cooking, wrapping and doing the whole darn thing... under more stress...

But this time I really mean it. I'm not doing it next year. My kids will be all growed up and out of the house. No tree. No extraordinary feasts. No presents.

  19. The cooking, cleaning and more cleaning...girl that's right. Maybe next year somebody will give the gift of HELP!

Despite all the cleaning and gut punching I am glad it was good one for you!

  21. I'm so with you. I just don't enjoy it that much anymore. My BFF called from Reno this year and said he skipped town with his family. I think I'm suggesting that to Mateo next year. 8) Somewhere sunny might perk me up.
    Happy New Year, sugar!
