It's Gotta Face!!!

Ok so I went to this restaurant yesterday that a friend suggested. I saunter up to the bar and take a seat so that I can order my dinner to go. I ordered and waited for my dinner to arrive. As I waited I was sipping on a Sierra Mist and just taking in the sights when the gentleman sitting next to me commented on how nice my nails were. I was wearing a french manicure design. The bartender also commented on my nails. He went on to say that men generally don't notice or care about what color your nails are but it's something about a French manicure that gets their attention. Go figure. I had no idea men appreciated something as simple and girlie as a french manicure. I thanked them both and continued my wait. Finally I get my food and I leave.

It never dawned on me to look at the food prior to getting home. Once I got home and settled down on the sofa I opened the Styrofoam box and was horrified. I ordered a stuffed trout and when I opened the box the fish still had his head on! I never eat food with the face and head still attached. That is just too creepy for me. I regained my composer and opened the trout from the middle where the stuffing was. I was too creeped out to ever close the fish back up. I just kept eating from the middle and trying to think of something other then that face.

Can you eat food that has a face or head on it?

HA!!!

I wasn't prepared for the transition from a French Manicure to a heads-on trout...

You could have done to that trout like what was done to the duck at the end of "The Christmas Story"... simply lop it off!!

I hope you enjoyed the trout!

that happened tome after I even asked if it came with the head. I removed the head and put it onmy bread dish and handed it to the nearest waiter. yuk

Oh baby, I'm definitely on the same page with you on this one! I can't handle trying to cook fish that arrive in my freezer with the heads still on! Someone -a local fisherman -gave my ex-son-in-law some freshly caught fish, which the SIL froze -with the heads on and didn't tell me about that aspect. So, when I pulled them out one day, figuring to have us some good trout for supper, and saw those heads -those eyeballs staring at me -the whole package immediately went into the garbage. What a waste of good trout that was. Why no one had removed the heads (and bones too ya know) before shoving them in the freezer is beyond my comprehension, for sure!

It doesn't bother me at all, but my daughter....she wanted a pig roast for her 16th birthday party. Got it, but she wouldn't eat a single bite because it "looked" at her.

It does not bother me as long it is dead, lol, but only fish, nothing else. Your french manicure must have been super nice then, lol. Anna :)

I wouldn't have been able to eat it at all. YIKES!

After reading this, I think I am gonna hook myself up with a French manicure.

I don't mind eating fish with the head still on. I don't like eating animal heads, but it doesn't bother me so much, because I grew up eating food like that.

I don't think I could eat that either. That just seems too...weird or odd to me.

That was a nice transition! Nails, fish head... LOL

Sexy nails are the key to the universe!!

Um, food that looks back at me? No, not so much.

That's like eating cow tongue (which I never have). The thought of it, creeps me out. Looking at the beady eyes of a fish is not at all appetizing.

Normally, I'd say no. But with fish, for some reason it doesn't bother me - maybe because I'm from an island, or maybe because fishes as animals are not as vocal as, say, cows or chickens.

Okay, i can't eat anything with its head on, that would have scared the snot out of me. I'm still tolerating eating crabs with their beady eyes and antanee, yuck!
BTW- yeah guys notice nails and things, I once had a guy tell me that his woman must always go get her nails and toes done- he was an arrogant jerk but I'm saying...

This reminded me of an experience I had as a child. My new Taiwanese friend had invited me to dinner. Me, the kid who grew up on canned vegetables and all things Southern-fried. They had fish for dinner and when it came time for serving, since I was the guest, I got the honored part of the head. I couldn't do it! It was bad enough that I wasn't much of a fish eater as it was, but to have it looking at me...ugh!
