Another Year, Another Apartment

Whew! Hello my bloghearts. It's time for a post. I swear I really will get better about posting regularly. I promise. Anyway, another year has gone by, meaning my birthday was Friday. It went by uneventfully. I moved last week so I was consumed with moving and getting settled. The move went well except the movers scratched a few items which pissed me off but they broke a wheel off of my coffee table. I am currently in the process of ordering another set of wheels and it is really pissing me off but whatever.

I love the new area. It's very busy here but I like that. I am surrounded by restaurants! OMG! For a foodie like me I see nothing but trouble in my future. I was sitting on my living room sofa and started feigning for some cheesecake so I went to Cheesecake Factory and bought a Red Velvet Cake cheesecake and brought it home. OMG! That was the best cheesecake I have ever had in my life!! It took my three days to eat the damn thing because it is such a large piece. YUM! Yeah, I foresee alot of trouble in my future.

In other news, I have made some decisions and set some new goals regarding my life and its direction and can I tell you that I am so very excited about the new direction I am going in. It's too early to disclose my plans and goals just yet but trust me when it's time I will fill you all in.

Getting back to my new living area, I am near a super Target. What's really great about this super Target is that they sell Martin's potato bread. Have you ever eaten Martin's patato bread? I don't think you understand, in my old apartment, I had to drive to two different grocery stores to buy Martin's and now that it is so close to my home now I am over the moon!!! That is the only bread I can eat and you never know how important a certain bread is until you can no longer find it. All in all life is wonderful right now.

I will do my best to post twice this week with updates.

I've Made a Decision

After much deliberation, I've made a decision. I've decided that as much as I hate to move it's time I move once again. I know you all are saying, "But Tee, you JUST moved to Atlanta almost four months ago." I know, I know, but when it's time to go it's time to go.

Oh, I'm not going back to Baltimore. Hell no. I need to move from the apartments where I live. They are cute and all but the service here is horrible. Our building looks like we are in the ghetto because they are too cheap and inconsiderate to power wash our building. People I can't live like this. I'm not used to living in conditions that are not up to par. I took this weekend to look at a few apartments in the really nice section of town called Ashford Dunwoody. Very nice people. I found a place that I absolutely love. I'm going to continue looking though. I'm going to take the whole spring and summer to look actually. There are some really nice neighborhoods to consider like Midtown, Atlantic Station and Buckhead. I think by October or November I should have a firm decision on what area I want to live in.

I do hate the whole process of moving. I hate it with a passion but I need to get out of here and the sooner I do it the better. I figure October or November would be great since people typically don't move during those times and complexes traditionally offer great discounts and move in specials.

I'll keep you all posted on the developments.

All I have to say is that I LOVE the ones in Ashford Dunwoody. And bonus...the apartments I looked at are all across from the great Perimeter Mall! Score!

I'm going to be in so much trouble.

You Like Me, You Really Like Me

Yesterday some of my coworkers took me to a going away lunch We went to one of my favorite places to eat. Me love Japanese restaurants with hibachi grills. Mmmmm mmmmm.

As we were preparing to place our orders a black and white gift back was shoved in my face. I was all "What in the world is this?" They were like, "Just look in the bag."

I pulled out the tissue paper and Voila! I saw this box.

Then I removed the top and saw this:

This bracelet is gorg. They know me so well. Then another coworker handed me an envelop and this is what I saw:

I was all giddy and whatnot. I belted out,"Oh yeah!! I so need this. I have to buy all new towels and wash clothes and sheets and everything." They were all "We don't feel sorry for you!" Bitches.

I love my coworkers.

People and Yard Sales

OK, so I had my moving sale this past weekend. It went very well actually and I am just glad it's over. People made out like a bandit with my stuff. I was practically giving it away. It's fine though, I couldn't use it anymore.

It's weird though, I felt some kinda way about seeing my stuff float out of my house. There is something about that whole experience that just didn't feel right.

People were like scavengers. It was weird to see. This one woman came in and bought things I hadn't expected anyone to take. In my guest bathroom upstairs this woman took the decorator towels I had hanging up. They were cute but I just wasn't expecting anyone to want them. I had a small basket on the sink counter in the bathroom with things guests would need if they forgot to bring them like toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, lotion, shampoo, all kinds of stuff and she took that. She even took the dirty rug I had laying by the door for people to wipe their feet on when they came in. I REALLY wasn't expecting that one.

It's all good. I feel really at peace right now so that's a good thing. It's weird, I was thinking about my nieces yesterday and realized I was going to miss them like crazy. Would it be wrong for me to kidnap them and drag them to Atlanta with me?

OK, off to visit your blogs.

14 More Days

I can't believe that in 14 more days I'll be in the ATL baby! I haven't heard from Ho Bag , Crazy or Clueless but it's all good.

Baltimore is a very small place. I found out today that the attorney handling my mom's estate is also friends with the owner of the property management company that will be handling renting out my house. I also found out that a coworker and friend is the daughter of Johnny Unitas and he also is friends with her family. Small world.

Anyway, not much to report today. The move is going along swimmingly and every thing else is status quo.

I did have a small hiccup yesterday when I was trying to put out the signs for my moving sale. The ground here is frozen solid so putting the metal stakes in the ground was not happening so I had to go to the store and find something to tie the signs to polls. I couldn't get the ties to work at first and my fingers were freezing off. I finally got 3 of the 4 signs up. I ordered a 4th sign before I realized the ground was frozen and now I can't use that sign anymore. I wonder if I ignore them will they go away and not charge me for that 4th sign? keep your fingers crossed.

The Weekend

Heeeellllloooo Bloghearts. How are you all this fabulous morning? I had a really cool weekend except for one little hiccup. My darn Ravens lost to those damn Steelers AGAIN. I am still sick about that. We had them all during the first half of the game....what happened? Man!

Anyway, my patio blinds are kind of broken. I've been dealing with it because it's no big deal but since I'm moving and renting out the joint I need to make sure the blinds work great so I went to Next Day Blinds to order blinds last week. The measurer guy was supposed to come over on Saturday but he called out. The woman that called told me that she would look at the times available and call me back to reschedule. That was 10:33am on Saturday and I am still waiting on that call. I just called the store to raise hell and the gentleman that answered said he'll call me right back. People, I am on a tight deadline, let's make this happen! Geesh.

I went shopping with a coworker on Sunday and had a really good time. I didn't buy anything fashionable this time just pretty basic that I can throw on and look cute and not a hot mess. I will not go shopping with Jae anymore because this heifer always have me buying shit I do not need.

I noticed something interesting this weekend, Crazy and Clueless have been kinda MIA for a while now. We haven't spoken on the phone nor have they desired to go out. I only have 2 more weekends left here in Baltimore and I think they are like "whatever" about my leaving. They have no desire to hang out before I leave. No biggie to me actually, it just solidifies my need for a fresh start with a new group of friends. I'm also excited about getting back into the dating scene as I haven't been on a date in 11 months and that is ridiculous. Mostly because I haven't put myself out there to date anyone really because I am moving so what would be the point but it will be nice to get back out there. Put on makeup, make sure the hair is on point and wearing a fly outfit and being all giggly and flirty with a cute guy across the table. I miss it so Atlanta I hope you are ready for me!

P.S. Next Day Blinds redeemed themselves by calling back and rescheduling for tomorrow from 5 - 7pm! Yes!

Coming Together

Things are coming together for this move pretty well I must say. I've ordered my furniture, I've ordered all of my utilities for the new apartment, I've scheduled my moving sale and will hopefully order the signs today, I've made an appointment with the management company to manage my house while I'm gone until I can sell it next week so all in all things are going according to plan.

My boss is looking into the feasibility of my taking my job with me to Atlanta so I'm keeping my fingers crossed there. I'm still applying for jobs. A girls' gotta have a plan B ya know.

I am looking forward to decorating the new apartment. I will surely post pictures for you all and keep you posted on the decorating project.

This weekend will be pretty quiet. My BFF's mother is coming by tomorrow to look at my bedroom set to possibly purchase it. We'll see. I am taking the Durango over to a friend of a friends' house to see if she's interested in purchasing it. I'll be really glad when I have completed this whole move and all settled.

I also plan to have an exterminator come over to the apartment the week I get into it to check to see if the place has mice. I hope not but he'll be able to tell me and hopefully close any holes he may find. I can not, I repeat, I can not live with mice. I will freaking lose my mind.

I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll be by to visit.

A Little of This, A Little of That

This weekend The Analyst finally came to retrieve the stuff he left at my house. I was more then irritated because he should have gotten the things he left 2 years ago. Then on top of that he wanted to leave certain things at my house which totally irritated me further. How dare you think my house is your dumping ground. I have my entire house that I have to dispose of, why would you further burden me with also having to unload your stuff too? The inconsideration of this guy is off the charts.

Then, if that wasn't bad enough he wanted me to drop him off at the airport later that day which would not have been a big deal had it been BWI but noooo, he had to pick the airport in DC, an hour away from me. An hour! I had to pass BWI, literally, to get to National. I was livid. When you inconvenience someone, you don't further inconvenience them by having them drive you an hour out of their way. Oy vey!

On happier news, I finally told my boss today that I was moving to Atlanta. The conversation went better then I thought. She said she would look into the alternative work pattern for me and see what is needed for me to do my job in Atlanta. Keeping my fingers crossed it all works out. At least she is receptive to the idea of me working from Atlanta. I'm still gonna keep on with my job search just in case. I always have to have a plan B.

I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm off now to visit your blogs.

Day 30 - What is Changing in Your Life

Wow! I can't believe that today is the last day of my 30 day challenge. Woohoo! So today's challenge is to describe what is changing in my life.

If you follow my blog with any regularity you kinda already know. I am in the process of making my big move from Baltimore to Atlanta. In four weeks to be exact! This is the biggest thing I've ever done and I'm excited, nervous and overwhelmed at the same time. Although I have all of these emotions I am still pushing through because I know in my heart this needs to happen. I can not let nervousness and fear stop me from moving on to the next chapter in my life. I think that is where many people get stuck and block their blessings. They are too afraid to move on to something new and different because they are unsure of the future or the outcome and that is uncomfortable. My thing is God lets us know all the time what we should and shouldn't do, it's those unexplained feelings in the pit of your stomach or that little voice in your head. He is moving you to position you for the blessings he's ready to bestow upon you but you are too afraid of the unknown of the change to make that move and your blessings are blocked at that point because you are not where you need to be.

I am not one to let fear and discomfort stop me from doing what I know I need to do. It's very fearful and uncomfortable leaving your home that you've built your entire life, giving up your surroundings and family and friends and strike out on your own hundreds of miles away from everything you've ever known.

Now don't get me wrong, I haven't always been this actualized. There were times in my life when I let the fear over take me and I didn't make necessary changes but as I grew I came to realize I was blocking my own blessings and to trust that little voice in my head, my intuition because that is God's way of communicating to me what he wants from me. So now I listen.

I don't know what my employment situation will be once I land in Atlanta. I will tell my boss on Monday what my plans are and let the chips fall where they may but I am confident that whatever happens it will all work out. I am open and receptive to whatever is to come.

I am excited about this new chapter in my life and I am looking forward to all of it.

So what's changing in my life? Everything and I can't wait.

Day 26 - A Little out of It

Wow...only 3 more days in this 30 day blog challenge. These challenges do go by really quickly.

Today is just a lazy Sunday afternoon. I feel my engergy level is at Zero. I feel like a sloth today.

I tried calling the rental office of the apartment I found in Lithonia GA. I wanted a floor plan of the 2 bedroom with loft that I rented but they are closed. I accidently gave the one they gave me back to them when I turned in my application.

Hopefully I can get them to fax it over tomorrow.

Have a great sunday everyone.

Randomness and What's Coming in the Future.

I am so not myself today. After a crushing defeat my Ravens experienced at the hands of the Squealers, I mean Steelers last night I just can't function today.

I'm not sure I can get over this loss. I"m glad it wasn't a beat down or a slaughter. It was a respectable 10-13 loss but still. It doesn't lessen the pain any. Oh well.....hold on....give me a minute.

In other news I've mapped out my timeline and plan for my move to Atlanta! I am so excited about this. It feels real now and I can't wait. I just put in for a few days off so that I can fly down there and check out a few more apartments and line up some interviews with a few head hunters. Wish me luck. I'll keep you all posted on everything.

I had so much fun with my 30 Day Blog Challenge that I am going to do it again!!!! I really did have a blast! Starting Thursday I will, again, blog for 30 straight days.

If you want to join in on the fun please feel free. All you have to do is post on your blog and link back to my blog in your post so that everyone knows you are participating. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

I would post specific topics for specific days you can blog about but I may veer off those topics if something exciting or interesting happens.

The Break Up Dance

As most of you know, I am trying my damnedest to move to Atlanta. I have my house on the market and just waiting on someone to bite. Speaking of which, anybody in the market to buy a house? Anybody? Whateves.

I am really anxious and focused on this move and I am chomping at the bit to get it under way. I feel I am in limbo. I can not take on any real long term commitments here because I would have to leave them whether it's 6 weeks from now or 6 months, I am leaving. For this reason I am not really trying to date anyone either. I do not, and I repeat, I do not want to complicate things by getting involved with anyone then have to either break his heart or heaven forbid get MY heart broken with the inevitable break up dance.

I was speaking to a guy associate the other day and he was trying to fix me up with his friend who he thinks I would be perfect for. Yeah right. First off, this associate of mine is really, really a gross little man. He is just disgusting. I get repulsed when I see him. With that said, I really don't hold out much hope that his friend would be any prize. Secondly, I told this associate that I was not looking to get into anything. He kept trying to convince me and I finally relented and said, "Look, if he is open to the idea of moving away in the near future then I may entertain the idea of meeting him." Whatevs.

I am so focused on trying to get things laid out so that my move goes smoothly whenever it happens. Life for me right now is really good save for the fact I miss my mother like crazy. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her and miss her. This was not supposed to happen to her but I digress. Besides all that crap, life is really good. I am tolerating my friends here in Baltimore OK, my job is going great although I am bored but that's neither here nor there. I am meeting new friends that I am hanging out with and loving it. My Mary Kay business is going along swimmingly. Things are really great and I am just biding my time so I am NOT willing to complicate all that with a relationship.

If I did find myself in a relationship and had to end it because I was moving, that would be an easy excuse to walk away because the guy would undoubtedly know that this was coming. Or I could end up like The Pioneer Woman who met her "Marlboro Man" just as she was planning her move away as well and he completely put a monkey wrench in those plans. That would never happen to me nor would I want that because my time in Baltimore is really done but whatever.

If you got involved with someone and you realized it had to end for whatever reason how would you do it? How would you enter into that break up dance with someone as to not totally decimate them, unless they deserved it of course?

Wrapping My Brain Around Everything

So I've mentioned before that I am making my way to Atlanta. Well, I am really wrapping my brain around this whole thing. I've already made plans to make my first trip down there the last week in July to scout out some nice apartments.

I've already given some thought to finding a job or business opportunity now as opposed to waiting until the last minute.

I'm feeling really good about things right now actually. I can't wait until I'm actually down there starting my new life. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I'm so anxious I'm wishing my life away.

Yesterday was an interesting day. It was my mothers birthday plus I had to visit my mom's lawyer to discuss some things. My middle brother called me and my youngest brother to check up on us since we all had mom on our minds. That was very sweet of him.

I have a couple of girlfriends that keep asking me if I've met anyone or gone out with anyone and I keep telling them no. I am not interested in meeting anyone right now. I keep telling them I don't want to start something I can not finish. My main focus is making my move happen and all the logistics that's involved in that.

I've never moved from one state to another on my own and I am realizing all the details that go into a move of this nature. It's exciting and scary but I can not wait!

Watch out life...here I come!!!

Please don't forget to visit my other blog, http://www.lifestyleofacitygirl.com/ I just added 2 new posts!

Life

Hello all. I don't have much to say today actually. I just wanted to put up a post to let you guys know I haven't forgotten about you and that I am still making my rounds to your blogs.

Life here at Casa De Diva has been pretty standard as of late. I just go to work and come back home. Getting back to my normal work routine has been good for me these days. I did go to the movies and lunch and shopping with a good friend of mine this weekend and I really needed that so it was great fun.

I've also been dealing with tying the loose ends of my mom's affairs. It hasn't been easy but things are actually OK. I've had so much support from family and friends that it has been overwhelming. I am truly blessed.

I've never been one to just call folks and keep up with them unless you were in my intimate circle of friends. I probably talk to them almost every day. lol With so many family members reaching out I really need to do better about keeping in touch with them. I acknowledge that keeping up with people has never been my strong suite but I asked God to help me get better with that. I really appreciate my family and I want them to know that so I really need to get on the good foot.

On other fronts, I've been wrapping my head around my eventual move to Atlanta. I know I've mentioned this before but now I can really start to make that happen. It won't be for several months because I still have to tie up mom's affairs and all but I am hoping that I can be down there by the end of the year unless God has other plans that is.

I hope all is well with you guys, How was your weekend? I want details!

Finally!

After 5 1/2 months I am finally moving in today! I am really excited about getting out of that God forsaken hotel but looking at the 300 or so boxes they brought back to the house yesterday I am a little overwhelmed with all the work ahead of me.

Being gone from home has made me realize just how much I take for granted:

  1. Washing clothes anytime I want without having to go on an expedition mission for quarters.
  2. Being able to watch all the TV cable channels I'm used to watching everyday. Having only 5 channels suck and I've missed all my favorite shows.
  3. Being able to watch DVD's anytime I want.
  4. Having a truly high speed internet connection. The connection at this hotel sucks and I can not watch videos without them stopping every second. Takes 30 mins to watch a 6 min video.
Yeah, I am ecstatic about being home.

Now excuse me while I go run around and act like a complete fool.

You Selfish Bastard

I've recently become aware of just how selfish The Analyst is but nothing hit it more on the head then this morning.

This ass actually was surprised when I told him that I would be happier when he leaves. He had the audacity to ask me why. Excuse me.

I flat out told him that it is difficult to see him every day. I told him he doesn't have any emotional attachment but I do and my life will be much easier when he's gone.

How selfish can you be to not know how difficult this is for me and just leave to make it easier?

He's gonna keep playing around and come home from work one day to find his stuff all on the lawn with the front door locks changed.

Bastard!

On to happier things....I am excited about the possibility of making my job a telecommuting position. This is one of my goals for 2008 to be able to work from home. This is somethinig that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. This also ties into my plans to leave Maryland in the future. If I already have a work at home job then I can EASILY move and live where ever the hell I want and that is exciting!!!

Whooo Hooo! 2008 will be a banner year and I can't wait.

A Clean Slate

I’ve blogged about wanting to move from Baltimore and start fresh somewhere else. I’ve been debating between Atlanta and the Los Angeles area. Well after reviewing the price of apartments on apartments.com I think my decision has been made for me.

Have these people in California lost their damn minds?! I mean really. Paying $2500 to $4000 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment. Get real.

Atlanta is much more reasonable.

So there you have it. Atlanta here I come. I wish I could make this move immediately but I just can’t do that. I could not abandon my mother. So, for that reason I am pretty much stuck here in Baltimore.

Oh well. Trust me when I say this, as soon as it is feasibly possible, I am so out of Maryland it will make your head spin.

Have you ever felt like you just want to drop everything and make a fresh start somewhere else? The thought of a clean slate is so intoxicating.

For some reason this desire is all consuming. I know in my heart of hearts that my time in Baltimore is limited and that is beyond exciting.
