My Weekend Wedding

Well blog buddies, I attended my uncle's wedding in GA. Yep, my uncle Peter that I blogged about got remarried this weekend and the entire family converged on GA.

It was actually a really nice wedding but you know I had some serious blog fodder for you upon my return.

First, when I am traveling on a plane, sitting in my seat with my eyes closed, that is not an invitation to engage me in a very mundane conversation. Leave me alone. Don't get me wrong, I'm a very friendly, people lovin' person but sometimes I just don't want to be bothered. If my eyes are closed...stay clear!

Secondly, these damn airlines are gouging us terribly and they are blaming it all on higher gas prices. This is ridiculous. They are using higher gas prices as an excuse to charge us for every little thing. USAirways charges you to check your bags. They also charge you for drinks now. This makes no sense at all. If gas prices go down will they return to offering us the same service they once did? I think not. How in the world can they in all good conscience charge us for sodas and juices? I am so upset about that I can't even see straight. USAirways can kiss my ass. Delta charges you $50 for a second checked bag. Bitches. At least they still give free peanuts and sodas.

Thirdly, my pain is the ass brother told me and my mother that he was going to pick her up at 9:00pm on Thursday to make the trip to GA. Can I tell you that he didn't get to her until 4:00am!!! She was in her room, sitting in her wheelchair, dressed, up all night from 9:00pm to 4:00am waiting for him!!! I can not tell you how heated I am about that. Would it have killed him to have called her to say he was not going to arrive until 4:00am? Everyone knows that if you tell my mother that you will be there at a certain time she will be ready and waiting for you. Oh I am so infuriated I can't even write. How are you going to have this woman sitting up all night waiting on you. The assisted living facility had to call to make sure someone was going to come get her because she was waiting so long. OOOOOHHHHH!!!!

When you want something done right, it seems as though you will have to do it yourself.

Sorry you had to go thru all that frustration. Hope it was worth it! Open Bar?

Welcome back!

When I do fly I go with South West. I don't get charged for a bag (yet) and my drinks/peanuts are free!

Oh my goodness I would be so pissed at my brother if he did that to our Mom. I haven't been on a plane since 1998, I would be upset about charging for a can of pop, can you bring your own on the plane? I'm sure not. If I would happen to see you sitting on a plane with your eyes shut, I would keep my mouth shut too! I like to read books when I fly, it's one of the few times I can actually sit for an extended period of time and get some reading done. I hope you enjoyed the weekend.

Dang! No flying for me! Glad you enjoyed the wedding! :)

I refuse, stress REFUSE, to ever fly United or US Airways. Delta's also on the receiving end of my annoyance next. I try to only fly AirTran if I can.

I'm so sorry your brother put your mom through that. That sucks!! I hope she's okay.

awwwwww - your poor mom. What the hell is wrong with your brother? He's such a fucker. He definitely should have called.

Fuck U.S. Airways. I knew about Delta charging for the second bag, but I thought that was what the other airlines were doing too. I didn't know they were charging you for all of your bags and your drinks too? That is fucked up!!!!! I will buy my drinks at the airport before I leave instead of paying them in the air. I used to bring my drinks from home but we all we can't do that anymore.

Sounds like brother needs a butt whoopin from mamma.

The bit about your brother almost makes me wonder if he and my older daughter are related! What was his excuse anyway -or did he even have one? (My daughter usually has an excuse for being late all the time, even though most of them are lame as hell too though.)

I used to fly like crazy. I stopped last year, and its sounds like things have gotten so much worse.

Ugh! It's ridiculous this whole
gas/airline/everything thing...

Not as ridiculous as your brother's behavior, but ridiculous nonetheless.

I feel horrible for your mother. That must have been a tough night for her.

Airlines have always been horrible, but yes, they've reached new lows. I'd almost prefer that they reduce the number of flights and bring back some of the "conveniences"...such as they are.

Finally, I'm pretty sure that it's legal to smack someone in the mouth when they talk to you while you're trying to relax. I think they specifically address that on the safety card right after the oxygen mask part.

I'd kick his ass. I really would.

I fly Delta as often as possible because they have the best partnerships with other airlines.

We took a trip up north this year, because I HATE the airlines so much....HATE, HATE, HATE. They all suck!

I paid $1,600 to SF last week.....flight 3 hrs late...middle seat in row 43......and Pretzels cost $2. I think it's time for all of us to say...."Go To HELL!"

I have a bad brother too....he beat up my 5 ft tall mom once. I'm gonna get him back one day.

yeah that paying to check your bags mess is for the birds... it used to be on weight but now every damn bag... I wanted to slap a hoe when they told me that mess.... I would just prefer they raise my damn fair so the mess is already paid for then getting me at the airport and telling me I owe them more money... ugh!

You were in GA and didn't tell me?

Well, kiss my ass!!

I have to say I have been thinking about your poor mother sitting there waiting on your brother and if it were me, I would just pretend he is dead and take on all the responsibility myself. Not easy, not at all fair, but I am sure your mother deserves better treatment than what she got from your brother. If I remember correctly, this isn't the first time he has shown his lack of responsibility. I hope he learns one day that what goes around, comes around.

Thankfully we won't be flying for awhile. I hope next time we do the airlines'll get their head out their asses & come back down to reality!

That really blows of your brother! Your poor mom. {{hugs}}

Take a train! Yes, I would always take a train..sure it doesn't get there as fast...but the scenery is usually worth it, spring for a compartment and what fun! Are we going to do a "kill my brother" show? I have a sister like that...I've about stopped talking to her...no, wait a sec...I have stopped talking to her!
hugs

You know what pisses me off about these airlines, other countries pay an arm and a leg for gas and still over excellent and free service (heck England's been paying 4 bucks for gas since 2002, no telling what they're paying now and might I say Virgin Airlines is the greatest flight ever!). Guess I gotta bring food and drink on the plane with me now! Bammas

Your brother I'm sure is a nice guy, but about as considerate as my ex husband.

I too, like your mom would've been up and waited...foaming at the mouth.
