I’m Personal

I did a post awhile ago asking who do we blog for, this post deals with the type of blogger we are. Why do we choose to blog in the fashion we do. For example, I am a "personal blogger" because I like reading and sharing aspect of personal life.

Sure, I could blog about the plight of certain socio-economic groups in the US, I could blog about race relations, the political process, the fact that we in the US are in a recession even though "the powers to be" don't want to admit it but I figure you can pick up any newspaper or watch any news program on TV and hear all about these subjects.

I find it fascinating to read snippets of your lives. I feel privileged that you let me in, even if just a little.

I, in turn, find it far more interesting to also write about parts of my life. We learn about each other, different cultures and customs, different countries. I find it amazing.

Sure, there are celebrity bloggers and fashion bloggers and news bloggers and so forth but it's something quite special about "personal bloggers".

No doubt about it, the personal blogger is a special, fantabulous breed. The best part for me is getting to know people all over the world, making friends, creating relationships. Makes me smile inside!

Yep, I'm a fan of the personal blogger, for all the reasons you state. I never bother reading other blogs, they bore me. I prefer to read about 'real' people.

And I'm glad to be one of your blog buddies!

There is nothing like personal blogging. You get to see how alike some people are to yourself. A lot of the time, its through personal blogging that you get to release some tension. I love reading all the personal blogging stories. It makes the 9-5 time fly by! Thank you all, I am so glad you posted this.

I love to read about how others live, their work, family, problems in their lives too from time to time and by the same token, that's pretty much what I try to share on my blog too. Every now and again, I might get on a tangent and post something about social issues, maybe a tad political (more than the Bushisms I try to post every Sunday, that is) but for the most part, it's just run of the mill, day-to-day-living things that grab me the most in others posts. And the fact too that I've acquired so many people on my blogroll who frequently I consider to be good internet friends too.

I agree with you! I love finding out things about peoples' lives. It really makes you feel like you arent alone when you going through things cause 9 times out of 10 someone else has been exactly in your shoes.

I am definitely a personal blogger like you. I like to share stuff about myself and those are the blogs I enjoy the most to read.

Everyone keeps telling me I should write a book - maybe someday I will - it would definitely be an all out there type deal - I'd share it all like I do now!!

I keep my blog, Just Because - personal. It's whatever I'm into at the moment - my personal spot on the web. My other two spots are a bit more specific. I read, as FB would call it, a "hodge podge" of different blogs and enjoy it - but I will say that most of my Daily Reads in my feeder are personal blogs.

i once wrote a newspaper column back in the nineties that was basically a personal blog, before anyone really knew what a blog was. it's good to have an editor who owes you a few.

Oh me too Diva, your worship...I blog about my life because that is what I know and when I try to just talk politics I manage to piss everyone around me off, so it's best if I keep my republican comments to myself and not get it started...my next post will be about how my cat is running for president...no, really..he is..

I agree! :) I love reading about other people's lives and learning things from others. Reading personal blogs has made me laugh, cry, meet cool people, etc.

I'm finding this world amazing-- I think it opens our minds and makes us feel more connected. I never know which category to pick when I'm asked to label my blog: photography? Family? Mommy blog? Why can't I just be?
And I feel closer to personal bloggers because I know more about them. How's the house coming?

i agree. i think the fact that i can relate, identify, learn, and grow through the plights of others is what makes a personal blogger the most fulfilling part of the blog experience.

I absolutely blog for me...i have switched in the past, but now i know it's all about me and my journey lady...i'm not perfect, not all good, but i'm me and i love it when i meet some other folks out there that is just like me, daring, no holds-barred, spilling and just don't give a dayum. Life is what you make it...and blogging for me is a release!

I totally agree. I am also a personal blogger. I guess that is why my 9 out of the top 10 blogs I read (you are one of them of course) are personal blogs. I learn alot through them. It also shows me that others may be going through the same thing I am and I am not alone.

I first started blogging for me. My own hobby where I could vent about life's daily crap. I still vent but now I try to make people laugh with me.

I love reading about other people too. It shocks me how much people have in common with one another when they're from different backgrounds.

We are all one family, it's something else to read a blog from a person, say, in India, and go "Gee, yeah, I know what you mean."

It's pretty damned cool.

I blog to try to entertain and to purge what's in my head.

I find that writing something and hearing that I have made someone laugh is one of the best feelings! I thoroughly enjoy it.

I blog about almost anything but I avoid the heavy political stuff and things of the like that I don't know much about. It's just not me. But, if it comes up and I feel equipped to talk about it, I will.

I too love reading about the snippets of other's lives. It's fun and provides a comradery.
