Sometimes You Just Have To Take A Stand

I had to fly to Massachusetts for a client visit this week. Can I say I hate the pain in the ass TSA jerks?

I know they have a job to do but is it in their job description to harass and piss me off? I mean really.

OK, I know that you can only take liquids and gels that are of a certain size and they must be in a plastic bag. I know this but dagnabit I forget sometimes. Geeze! Sue me.

I leave Baltimore with no problem. The TSA agents that checked my bags were fine. The guy did throw away my large Bath and Body Works Moonlight Path lotion. I was not happy but whatever.

After my trip I arrive at the airport in Connecticut and the idiot TSA agent goes into my bag and pulls out my Olay Total Effects moisturizer that I JUST bought and my Clarins Advanced Eye Serum. He had the audacity to say to me, “These have to be in a plastic bag.”

“Uh I know, the TSA agents in Baltimore didn’t say anything.”

“Well you need to have these in a plastic bag or go out and check your bag.” With my products in his hand, he actually started looking around as if trying to locate a trash can. Did he just lose his mind?

I know the guy is legally correct but can there be some consistency in this process? If some agents let you go then come on dude, you can too. I was getting a little heated.

“Are you kidding me? Do you realize how expensive this stuff is?”

“You need a bag and I don’t have one back here. You’ll need to check your bag.”

“Come on now. I’m not getting out of this line! That stuff is too expensive to throw out. You have got to be kidding me!”

He then proceeds to search around and luckily he located a plastic bag. YIPPEE!

I was fully prepared to fight tooth and nail for my skin care products. I pay a lot of money for this stuff and I be damned if I was going to let him throw it out.

I was fully prepared to go to the big house for the right to have my skin care products in my bag the way I want them. Sometimes you just have to take a stand people. Bastards!

I've wanted to poke out some TSA eyeballs many times. Once in Charleston, SC the TSA-hole pulled out my bra and put it on the table. I flipped out. The worst was when some crazy bitch gave me a pat down that was anything but gentle. If you're going to feel me up, at least buy me a drink first.

Yeah...those bastards took my old lady's KY Jelly last time.
Seriously...who they hurtin here????

LOL

I'm mad you were about to go to the big house but then again we are in a recession we trying to save as much as we can :)

The reason people get so mad is the inconsistency. I went to Punta cana and in the gift shop at the airport bought a small bottle of local liquor of somekind and then they turned around and took it at check. I just bought there at the airport what the hell. they probably sell all the stuff on craigslist.

I hear ya! I would've walked rather than throw away my Clarins!

I would have been LIVID!

I am glad he did not throw away your precious skin care products!

You practically have to save for a month for those beyotches! :)

I take it that it was the TSA azzhats at Bradley? They truly don't have a whole hell of a lot to do. Part of the reason I detest flying to W. Mass is because I have to deal with those idiots. Even Boston/Logan's TSA idjiots are better than the ones at Bradley.

I agree 100%. At the very least be consistent and then we can prepared accordingly! sheeeesh. Good job girlie!

I rarely fly and I have not been on a plane or even to pick up someone at the airport since all of this stuff happened.

But it seems like last week that they announced that the limit on liquids would soon be gone, but that you were either supposed to have the liquids in a plastic bag or have them inspected and x-rayed. And these guys must have heard this before the rest of us heard it on the news. So why harrass someone over something that is about to be changed anyway?

The really weird thing is that when all of this happened I watched a movie on TV where a terrorist brings plastic explosives onto a plane by hiding it in a wrapper that said Sculpty or PIMO or something like that. The explosive device itself was put together by putting together parts some of them had made to look like watches and radios and such. So then he takes the stuff to the restroom and puts it together into a bomb.

So there's all this stuff about liquids, but have you ever seen anyone searched for modeling clay, or had their radio and watch and cell phone taken away? If this stuff was really about keeping people safe, why didn't they do that?

That is why I always check everything. It is not worth the hassle to me.

they are very inconsistent and i hate it. i hate them! Those OLAY products are expensive and i'm glad that you put up a fight to keep them!

Wow. I've never had this problem but I'm sure I would freak and be mad at the principle of it all just like you were.

This is why I don't fly...oh that and the fact that I've not flown since...well, you know...I love the train...no tsa's there!

That's why I like smaller airports. They always have bags and the people tend to be much nicer.

There's apparently something about working for the TSA that attracts bullies and people with low IQs.

Erm...note to anyone from the TSA that reads this: I'm not talking about you, of course. Clearly you're the exception.

They've thrown away my MAC lipstick before (not even gloss. But now I keep it in my purse and got no problems. It's very inconsistent.

I've had TSA agents toss my stuff before and it's irritating - even if it is the law...

Amen! I hate the way terrorism is used as an excuse to screw with people. Don't go messing with a girl's product!

They are total fucking assholes.

I feel your pain girl...

Can't say that I've experienced the EXACT same incident but just last year, one of the workers STOLE a bottle of my favorite perfume. ::fights back the urge to cry::

I paid $80 [for that bad boy]...

Pissed doesn't even begin to describe how I felt.

Renaissance Woman said...

LOL...that was funny. I have had the same experience so many times and get so frustrated with myself and the agents. Good for you...good looking skin wins.

So@24 said...

Damn. I'm glad that worked out.

Airports are too fucking stressful now.

Flying is a total pain in the ass these days.

If it was an airport in the uk, they would have made you pay for the bag!!!

I LOVE, I MEAN LOVE....Bath and Body Works Moonlight Path lotion.

I agree with you but on a side note have you ever wondered why their skin looks so good at security. I wonder if its all the shit they have been taking!

dmarks said...

Guys don't understand Bath and Body Works stuff and skin care products in general. So you won't ever get much sympathy there.

dmarks said...

@j: " Once in Charleston, SC the TSA-hole pulled out my bra and put it on the table"

....And I just hope you were not wearing it at the time. Otherwise, that would be quite a trick.

Slick said...

A man.....them TSA agents knew not to screw with you, it sounds like...

LaiLani Ali said...

Every time I am on the way to the airport, I go through this personal reminder:
The TSA agents are human. They are just trying to do their job, like the rest of us. Don't hate the playa, hate the game. Hate the game.

I managed to get myself a big fat mark by my name when I pitched a bitch in New Orleans trying to get home.

Now I get the "random search" of my bags every time. What are the odds??

Gotta watch out for the airport gastapo.
