Responsibility

As I’ve been thrust back out into the dating scene as of late it’s become increasingly clear to me many of the men these days have lost the art of wooing a lady. They just don’t seem to know how to treat a woman these days and quite frankly I’m not used to it.

But, after further thought I also realized that we women have to take much of the blame for this as well. We have stopped taking these men to task when they become cads and slip off their game. We have started allowing them to treat us far below the standards of not so many years ago all because “we’re in a new day now and men just don’t act that way anymore.” Sure, that is the truth but it’s because we have allowed them to get away with this behavior.

Come on ladies we have to take some responsibility in all this. People will only treat you the way you allow them to treat you. That is a fact. When we no longer require them to open the door for us or allow them to order before us in a restaurant or not force them to watch the tone in which they speak to us or wait at least until we know their last name before we sleep with them then what do we expect the out come to be?

I’m not trying to be all preachy but I just had to make this observation. Ladies, we have to get it together and hold these men accountable for their bad behavior.

Chivalry is not dead, at least not in my house.

You need to make that into a bumper sticker or something.

I agree we allow people to treat us a certain way. I thought when you first dated someone and you are courting they would send you flowers, chocolates send you love letters.

Not emails and text messages and virtual flowers. Hell I wish people would put a little effort into dating.

I am glad you put your foot down. My friends who did this are reaping the rewards big time. A nice healthy relationship with lots of flowers, candy, open communication, respect and the bar that is raised.

But you also have to watch the guy you acts wonderful and plays the bait and catch game. Sometimes when they get the catch and your hooked they start to act like the worm !

Dont let them think they are the master baiter, just yet anyway! LOL

You are 100% correct. It is sort of like playing a little hard to get so they have to work hard to get you. I don't put up with crap from any guy!

***MAN ON THE FLOOR***

Hello Miss Diva, your comments at my blog compelled me to invest in the women behind them.

Your post is a topic I've kicked around on several levels. I am basically new to blogging and don't know all the protocol but I'd like to invite you and the ladies to a couple of post that yawl my find interesting. One is "Ladies ladies, please stop crying wolf" another spoke directly to what SSC was saying. There are some men that slip under the radar. That post appears right after the one I mentioned. You are correct, Oprah said that you have to teach a person how to treat you.

Hey, I don't know how you found my site but thanks for stopping by and sharing your comments. Come on back, I left something for you ...well, I need some more words from you.

Mothers and fathers need to teach their sons how to treat girls and then women. they learn from example.Women need to demand respect or the rest is history.

I agree 100%! It's just like kids that run wild now and get away with everything. It's because we let them! Men are no different, they're just bigger kids!

We are all accountable for allowing people to treat us like crap. Whether they are men, bosses or family, it all comes back to us. You're right. We teach people how to treat us. We have to have enough self respect and self love to put our foot down when it happens.

GREAT Post Tee! You are absolutely right - men will treat us how we let them treat us and I, for one, won't accept anything less from a guy. I don't have time for the bullshiz, ya know?
