I was almost Mrs. Prince

Do you remember the first concert you ever attended? The very first one? I sure do, it was way back when…I was in the 11th grade I think, it was me, two of my girlfriends and Prince, The Time and Vanity Six!!!

Yes folks I saw Prince, The Time and Vanity Six live in living color baby!!!! LOL In all honesty it was a fun time. There was a girl in the section next to me that I thought was going to have a heart attack. The poor thing just jumped up and down and screamed and cried. I thought she was going to bust a gasket. LOL

I, on the other hand, was convinced that Prince would spot me waaayyyy up in the balcony and bring me on stage to profess his undying love for me. Shut up it could have happened!!!!

Now that I look back on it, what as the lure of Vanity Six? It had to be Vanity’s beauty because they could not sing a lick nor could they perform. All they did was sway and gyrate on the stage.

Prince and Morris, however, knocked them dead!

There were several men dressed as Prince or Morris….I wonder if they look back at that and cringe from embarrassment! I mean really…..LOL

What was your first concert?

New Edition, I think I was in the 5th or 6th Grade. We got there early, we were right up front, and Ronnie Devo reached down and kissed my hand.

Umm, I am embarrassed to say...it was The Marshall Tucker Band when I was 18 years old, at the Merriweather Post Paviliion. It is still the only time I have been to The Merriweather. Now that's sad.

Michael Jackson Thriller tour. I guess I was in 5th grade (or so) at Giant Stadium. Shortly after that I saw Barry Manilow. I had to beg my parents for both concerts. Even back then my taste in music was messed up.

That's funny you asked this... last night my husband went to see Van Halen with HIS 18 year old son, and he was blown away. We started to reminice about the good ol days, the good ol bands... and he felt sorry for me becuase I only went to 4 concerts in my whole life. 3 of em with HIM.

My first concert was David Bowie, in the late 80's early 90's. I think I was eighther in gr 7 or 8 then. My cousin had extra tix and against my mom's wishes I snuck off with him and his gf. It was a great show, I still thank him for thinking of poor deprived Claudia, LOL>
Then Jann Arden, U2, and Van Morrison.

Not to mention the free concerts at the PNE in the summers as a teen: Tom Cochraine and Red Rider, Kashtin, Barney Bental and the Legendary Hearts... OH man I would LOVE to see Blue Rodea.. they are coming back to town soon. Sigh.

pardon my many typing errors. BLUE RODEO is the main one I will correct hehehe

since my mum was in radio, I used to go to concerts all the time as a kid, and the one I remember the most, was Cliff Richard, singing on rollerskates! Sad, I know!

The Rightous Brothers at Rock Creek Park Arena in D.C. - sometime in the very late 60's, maybe 1970 or 1971 -can't remember exactly when now as I'm lucky I can remember my own name somedays at my advanced age!

My first concert: Journey!
Woot!

Culture Club. I was 12 or 13. I was dressed as George with wool plaits in my hair.

I too was convinced that he would spot me in the crowd and fall madly in love with me. I had an extra hurdle to overcome, the fact I had (and still have) breasts and no danglely bits down there.

Oh well, I had a wonderful time and couldn't speak for 2 days from screaming 'George I love you!'.

It was Van Halen with Gary Sheron (Sp)mid nineties. It was a gift for my then bf. It was good. After that was Creed. Standing room only, those girls can be mean. I tried like hell to squeeze myself to the front close to the stage, but got stuck about 10 rows away. My Fav concert was Pearl Jam.

Have a great weekend.

Just be careful. I hear that Prince is suing people who mention him on their web site!

I saw David Bowie in Toronto. I forget the year, but it was when the "Let's Dance" album had all those hits. It was the "Serious Moonlight Tour"

Claudia: I see your first was David Bowie also. But the one I went to was 11 or so years before yours.

Can't remember the name of it [Might have been Reggae Sunsplash or somethin' close to it] where I got to see several reggae music artists namely Beenie Man perform live.

The experience made me NEVER wanna go to a live concert again [and actually, I haven't since].

It was straight madness!!!

My first and only concert was Heavy D and the Boys, Salt n Pepa, Dana Dane, Slick Rick...i was 16 and consequently, was my first night checking in a hotel with a boy...heheheh

We didn't really do concerts. There might have been the occasional outdoor thing at the fair, but that was only cause we were going to the fair anyway.

There was an odd experience of going to see the movie Dune in an almost empty theater, and then having about twelve high school girls jump up and scream every time Sting was on screen.

My first concert was Cyndi Lauper. I think I was in 8th grade or so. Prince would have been cool to see and The Time...love the time! :)

I'm a concert Junkie and Prince is still on my list of people to see - IF he did a tour of his old music. We shall see.

I guess it would be one with my mom. I was 13 when she took me to see Hall & Oats. She got free tickets because she was hired as a massage therapist to give Oats a massage before the concert. I know I would have rather seen Prince with a friend.

Parliament-Funkadelic, and i believe it was 6th or 7th Grade also...man when that Mothership landed in my high school it was on, oh and he had Bootsy Collins with him too! It was the wildest and the coolest concert that i will never ever forget. I saw Prince for the first time 2 years ago, man he doesn't age a bit, and he tore it up.

While in elementary, my sister won 2 backstage tickets (radio contest) to see UTFO, New Edition and Jesse Johnson.

First concert I'd ever been to. Loved it to def.

I saw Prince for the very first time a little over 3 years ago when he gave out the free CDs w/ tickets. He was very spiritual w/ his music. I enjoyed his show as well.

Mt first one was Depeche mode - okay no judging here - I was young!

I was 4 and my parents took me to see Tony Orlando & Dawn. I don't remember the concert, however my parents said somehow I got away from them during the show and when they found me I was backstage. My father jokes that it was then he knew I'd work in entertainment. My first real concert that I remember was The Jets when I was around 12/13 and got to meet them. And, by 15 I was working in entertainment so the concerts were pretty par for the course :)

My first concert was New Edition...The NE Heartbreak Tour.

I remember my sister bought me tickets for me. Of course this was when she had her first little $30000/yr job, fresh outta college, no kids, not married yet. I was the discretionary income! That was great. Anyway...it was my birthday present along with some bangin leather boots. I thought I was the ...ish, I tell ya!
