I Could Have Been A Rock Star!

How many of you are in the careers you envisioned for yourself when you were the bright eyed, eager young person still in school trying to figure out what you wanted to be in life?

Deep down, I am doing what I’ve always wanted to do…train/teach. I‘ve wanted to teach/train since I was a young girl and now I’ve been in my chosen career for the last 10 or so years.

But I must say…I had a secret wish that I never told anyone. Deep down in the lower most recesses of my soul I really wanted to be a ……a……singer or movie star. Stop your laughing dammit!!! I could have been a singer if in fact I could carry a tune but since I can’t I decided to let that career choice move right on by. LOL I always imagined myself on a grand stage with TV cameras all over the place in my sexiest outfit belting out the most amazing song with hordes of admirers throwing applause and roses at my feet. Aaaahhh yes! That would have been the life. LOL

Since no one has knocked down my door to act in their movies or TV show, I decided to let that career choice pass as well. LOL

I always thought I'd be famous. I didn't care if I was a model, or an actress or just party girl like Paris Hilton, but I was going to be famous for sure.

Now I just want to marry a rich guy that will take care of me :)

I wanted to be a vet, now my dear daughter wants to be a teacher/vet. In her words " someone who teaches people to be vets"

I absolutely wanted to be a rock star. I would sing off-key into my brush at the top of my lungs. Hmm, I wonder why I didn't pursue that?

HAHAHA. Dag, I know I'm not doing what I always wanted, but I think I'm closer then I ever was...I too had visions of acting and singing and being so close in the entertainment business...well who knows it just might happen.

i've always wanted to be a performer- a jazz singer to be exact. now i just sing in my apartment.

there are elements of my job that are close to what i thought i wanted to do but this job is not it by a long shot.

I think a lot of people want to be singers/etc, which is why "American Idol" is so popular. I've always had the stagefright thing, so I've never dreamed of anything like that.

I doubt there is anyone if asked and if they answered honestly, who didn't at some point in time dream of stardom of some type. I think my four-year-old granddaughter already has designs on the entertainment industry -even or because of (not sure which would apply here) with her autism factoring in. I never even came close to doing, as a career, what I had in mind back in high school -then it was nurse; career, if you want to call it that, generally was food service-waitressing. Oh, maybe it does qualify though as I did have to wear the white nurse type shoes as a waitress. Hmmm. Never thought of that aspect before now either.

I am a writer and I always wanted to be a shrink so go figure - but I majored in psych in college then started writing about women's health so it is a bit intertwined....

I wanted to raise Tiger cubs!! I would watch tv and think that Tigers were the cutest and best animals in the World. I loved them so I wanted to raise them. I think I still do. There's a place in Florida that does (raises and cares for Tigers) that tho...

I don't think you're crazy at all. Whenever I'm alone, I'm singing at the top of my lungs, belting out tunes, and trying to dance all slinky-like.

The fact is I can only sing in several keys, and my dancing makes me look like Homer Simpson walking.

When I was growing up I never knew what I wanted to be. A hairdresser (age 9), a journalist (age 16), and here I am, almost 30, and I manage projects on corporate communication, and I just know... this is not who I am. I want to travel, I want to write, I want to take photos. I want to make money for myself and not be subjected on a daily basis to a company where my future will always be in the hands of someone else.

And yet... I love my job.

I had a stage mom so while I always wanted to work in entertainment - being in front of the cameras or on stage bothered me beyond belief. Granted looking back it gave me some skills I use today, however, I much prefer working behind the scenes. Though seeing fans go nuts for my clients is sometimes the best feeling! (Well normal nuts - not stalkin' nuts *LOL*)

I wanted to be a movie star too! But first i wanted to be a model, a top model, because i did model for a long time...then i wanted to be a newsanchorwoman, well that dream died after they paid so little for being a reporter...now i want to be a well to due writer, not a lot of drama, still make money, a little fame, but without the annoying media...yeah, i could rub elbows when i wanted and chill all the time.

I can sing, but I can't dance. You need both to be a rock star, right? I get stage fright also. Oh well.

La Cremiere said...

Hahaha. Sorry. I'm not laughing. Not me though, can't sing and camera shy. No that's rubbish, maybe stage shy, yeah that's it.
Well, just be yourself (a diva) and go to places where people will notice you, it's just the same.

I suffer from that same delusion! If only I had talent....I would be a WORLDWIDE phenomenon!
