How rude can you be?

Ok some people take rudeness and disrespect to a whole other level at times. I am a nursing trainer. It's my job to train people on a regular bases. I love training. I've been doing it for 10 years now. I'm damn good at it.

Anyway, the hospital where I work is launching a new surgical software that nurses and surgeons alike will have to utilize. It's pretty critical stuff. I mean, you have some poor stiff laid out on the operating bed and you have to have the system up right there beside you the entire time during the procedure. If you screw something up there the poor fool laid out could die. It's really just that critical that the peopple learn this stuff,

Anyway, I'm about to conduct a training session with a group of nurses. I'm in the front of the class room, getting introductions and preliminary stuff out of the way when I noticed seated in the front row this chick has a book open and is reading it! THIS IDIOT IS READING A BOOK IN THE FRONT ROW RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME trying to conduct a training.

Oh I wanted to beat the shit out of her but I simply said, "I'd hate for you to miss some really important information during class so could you please put the book away?"

This chick puts the book away, half ass pays attention during class then has the nerve to slam me on the evaluation. I so wanted to beat her ass.

I just laughed it off considering the source.

How rude could you be to read a book in front of the instructor duing class?

BITCH!

Good lord! What hospital is this? I need to know so that I never go there when I'm in maryland visiting my parents. hehe I'll be there in October and December.

Well, we all have stuff to read and messages to check and stuff like that, and we generally do stuff like that at the beginning of class when someone is taking the role or whatever. But then after that most of us would get serious about class and pay attention. It's not like high school when someone is making you sit in class. If you don't want to learn something in the college-level class, don't sign up for it.

Maybe she thinks she's already doing okay on the computer without your help. Maybe she really does already know that stuff. But why sit on the front row that day if you know the lecture is about something you don't need? Sit on the back row that day if you're not going to pay attention.

I want to slap people like that. I had one guy pull out a newspaper in training one day. He got REEMED out by his manager after I tattled. Rat bastards.

Um...very?

When I used to train I had a guy reading the NY Times in the back of the room. I mean, the Times?!? It's huge! That's not even trying to be subtle.

WOW.

Doesn't sound like stuff one should take so lightly. I'm certainly NOT surprised though.

Shew...if she's not interested, she needs to take her @ss to find another line of work.

I mean really...WTF???

Laughing it off is the first and best way to handle it. In view of the importance of nursing, it might be worth a discreet word about said beyotch's lack of interest in training to home girl's supervisor.

People.

maybe she thought introductions were unimportant. Was it Harry Potter, by any chance?

Take a moment to conside that some people need help to make the proper choices in life. Then, slap her if it helps!
