To Circumcise or Not Circumcise

I have a really good friend that I've known for 30 years. I'd do anything for her because she has always been there for me. When we were kids we'd fight like sisters would but always made up because that what sisters do. She had a baby last year and due to medical situations he was never circumcised. She had decided to put it off for a year.

Well a year has come upon us and I asked her recently if she still planned to have her baby son circumcised and she informed me that she had changed her mind.

I know this is between her and her husband but I seriously feel upset about that. I feel she is doing him a serious disservice by not having him circumcised.

Women like a circumcised penis. It looks aesthetically more pleasing plus it's easier for the man hygienically speaking. It's just a win win situation. I know I shouldn't be this upset but I really feel they need to have that boy circumcised.

How do you all feel about circumcision? Women, do you prefer a man that has had this done? Men how do you feel on this subject?

I have never had an uncircumcised penis in me so I dont know if it feels any different and I have never seen one in person either only pics online... and it disgusts me... it just doesnt look natural...

also I thought it was unhealthy to not be circumcised but that may just be a myth I heard somewhere...

personally I feel right when they are cutting the cord go ahead and snip the lil weener...

what are her reasonings for not getting him snipped when he was born and what does the husband feel about it and is the husband circumcised?

I know I'm nosy but that may give me a better understanding of her logic

in the days of my folly i slept with a man who was uncircumsized. I never saw it (did i mention that this was in the days of my folly. I don't remember any difference but I would not prefer it.

Maybe your friend changed her mind because she doesn't want to hurt him. It's much harder of a decision as the kid gets older i'm sure but i agree with you. She should just bite the bullet.

Personally I couldn't care less as long as it does the job.

I'm linking to this

(actually I liked. an uncircumcised penis is like a tootsie roll pop ;))

Wow - I never really thought about it. My child (if I have one and if i have a boy) will be circumcised but I don't know any parent who has gone without circumcising the boy.

Sorry I'm not of more help :(

I have been with at least 4 men who were not circumcised. I can't say I have a preference, actually. And I can understand why parents choose not to put their son through it.

I had my son circumcised right after birth for the same reasons you stated. I just think it is easier to clean, and like Eb mentioned, more pleasing to the eye.

I am a mother of 4. I only have one boy. I left the decision completely in the hands of his father since he is a man and should know more about this than me. He said that our son would definitely have to be circumcized. I didn't feel it was neccessary, and we discussed the pros and cons briefly, but it was not a huge issue with me. After my son was born, my husband had a change of heart and just couldn't bear to put him through any pain. So, we didn't have it done. He is now 11 and it has never been an issue.

Also, I was once married to another man who was uncut and it was no big deal. I think sex is even better for an uncircumcized male because the head of the penis is more sensitive, I heard that somewhere. It made no difference in my pleasure, etc.

I've heard horror stories of circumcisons gone bad but at the same time, it's a personal choice.

they're crazy if they don't have it done. CRAZY

I've asked All 700 women I've slept with and they agree too.

LMAO at that question!!!! Umm yea uncurcumised penis are and look digusting. I havent seen on in person but I know if i did i wouldnt let that dude come near me lol we allll know that some men are not the best at hygiene so I think your friend is making it hard on ur son in the future IMO anyway.

CarmenSinCity said...

He needs to be circumcised. It's REALLY weird looking when they don't have it done. I'm with you on this one.

Karen said...

It is more common than you may think not to circumcise these days.

The hygiene reasons are no longer an issue as we have running water and soap today that they didn't have more than a thousand years ago when it became a popular ritual.

And apparently the foreskin has many, many nerve endings so having the foreskin makes sex more pleasurable for the man.

As for what women like, I don't know. Maybe it is cultural or whatever, but I find no problem with either variety.

I can honestly say I have never seen an uncircumcised penus other than in pictures. I think it looks extremely odd, but that is because that is not what I am used to. Since I don't have a child of my own I guess I can't really speak on what I would do, but I would think I would just have it done.

I say circumcise. My hubby is, my 2 sons are and the only time I saw one in real life that wasn't, it turned me off so bad, nothing more happened, if you know what I mean. ;-)
To me an uncircumcised one looks nasty and you never know what's lurking under that foreskin. Plus I read somewhere that circumcised men are less likely to pass on STD's. Reason enough for me. My sons' wives will thank me some day for taking care of this for them.

I know a couple men who had it done as adults and unpleasant doesn't begin to describe it. I say have it done as a newborn if possible or at least before they are old enough to remember it.

I've ONLY seen uncircumcised. They seem perfectly fine to me. *shrugs*

It truly doesn't bother me, and neither my boys are circumcised, they don't even offer it in the UK.

~nOe~ said...

so you know, in south america women don't do that to their baby boys, so you always find 'natural' guys around... :)
it's pleasing to the eye, as someone said. but there's not difference...
my bff said to me (she's a nurse): as soon as i have a boy i'll circumcise him coz when they're old and if they still have that thing on it looks UGLY! lol
as long as it does the job...

I've been with uncircumcised men before and I find there is no difference with sex. I don't find it repulsive to look at either.

I don't understand what circuses have to do with penises.

I'm assuming that 'circuscized' is just another word for 'dressing him up in a little clown suit.'

Although it takes some time to get the outfit right, it's well worth it when you do the 'lion tamer' bit during masturbation.

Oh.

CircuMcized.

Nevermind. Forget I said anything.

catscratch said...

I agree with you 100%. It's not very attractive at all. And I'm sure the boy will feel that way when he is older and understands.

And about the hygiene issue. I agree again 100%.

I hope they change their mind.

Ms. Behaving said...

I personally don't find an uncircumcised penis appealing...

Therefore, I am all for having the procedure done.

SSC~ The Domestic Diva said...

My doctor encouraged me not have my son circumcised. I did anyway but the new trend is not to.

From what I have heard, men who have not been circumcised say its the best ever. Yet how do they really know.

I think its a personal choice and I think I am a sheep when it comes to things like this. I want my boys to feel comfortable changing in a locker room when they get older.

laughingattheslut said...

For one thing, nobody has anything that looks attractive in the crotch area, and that's why it's sometimes called bumping uglies. Cutting a little bit of skin doesn't make it pretty. Hormones kick in, and then we don't care what it looks like.

Other countries do not do this now, and while foreign guys must get turned down once in a while, it is rarely because of that, unless when they're after an American women.

My personal experience (other than just looking) has been one of each. They both worked from my point of view. I'm guessing from the sounds that the one made that guys would prefer to be left natural. But I do wonder if it is more difficult for natural guys to deal with condoms. It looks less comfortable on them, and it seems like there were more times that a condom broke or just came off.

The only time I found the natural penis to be a turn-off was one morning when I was going to be nice to him for his birthday, and he wasn't awake yet, and of course he hadn't had a bath yet....

Gross!

It was several hours before I got over that enough to continue with the guy's birthday present.

Hope that wasn't too graphic.

I guess the parents have to consider the childs well being. It's much more of a hassle for him to get circumsized as an adult. He will surely feel awkward if the begins to realize he is a rarity. Also it's cleaner, lowers the spread of STDs and is more attractive. What's the upside to not getting it? I just don't know.

as a greek, it's against our religion to circumsize. don't ask me why. i don't agree with it. i think every man should be circumsized.

dmarks said...

An OB-GYN I trust preferred that circumcisions not be done.

Yes, there is the hygeine thing, but I understand if the man is a little more careful ("clean") it can be ok.

Mizrepresent said...

I can't say whether you should or shouldn't. My ex wasn't, and so, he didn't want our son. Once they learn how to clean it, there is no problem with it being healthy. It's skin that covers the penis, that is supposed to protect it, just as we have lips that cover the vagina to protect it. Aesthetically, once the skin is pulled back it looks the same.

i don't get it: uncircumcised penis's "look weird and unnatural"?

a mans penis that is uncircumcised IS how he was was when he was born. Is this like telling a woman she is too flat and needs implants?

Personally, I think it is cruel to circumcise a defenseless baby all in the name of "looking normal", but agree it is a personal choice.

is that why women say u have a pretty dk?

Princess Extraordinaire said...

I can't say I have a preferance, however, I have been with more men that are circumsized then not. I am not sure what is myth and what is fact when it comes to the well being of the baby. It has to remain a personal preferance.

I know smeone who had it done when he was 32. Let me tell ya he was not a happy camper and stayed in for an entire weekend before he felt better.

I have never seen an adult man who was uncircumcised only little boys & it looks strange. After having my son circumsized, my mom said she probably wouldn't do it to her sons if she had to do it all over again. That surprised me. She said the pain they are put through just isn't worth it.

QueenBitch said...

I have seen a few uncircumsized penis's and they really do look weird. its just all weird like a sausage roll or something.
I have my tongue peirced and i am ridciulously clumsy so i'd hate to catch it on somethin extra down there!!

I dont have kids so I dont know if i wud want them to get circumsized. I guess if they could do it straight away it'd be ok.

Circumsized does look better.

I've never seen an uncircumcised penis but my friend has and she said it looks pretty sick! Honestly I don't think I could ever look at one and not laugh!

My two cents:

My son is almost 4 years old & 'uncut'. His father is circumcised since this was common for most US newborn boys 40 years ago.

We investigated both sides of this before deciding to keep him natural/uncut.

But, the basics of our thoughts were this: What good reason could we come up with for performing an uneccessarily invasive *cosmetic* surgery on an otherwise healthy child? There are rare but serious side effects from circumcision that were just not worth the risk to us (That would be the occasional *death*). If my son decides this issue otherwise for himself once he is an adult, it will be a decision that is rightfully his.

I have had my foreskin all my life, and it has not presented any problems. I wash under the foreskin and I am careful when I urinate to pull the skin back and shake the drops off before the hood comes back down. These simple steps are all I do to maintain a clean foreskin. Unlike my snipped brothers, I don't have a scar behind the glans, and I retain sensitivity without needing lubrication for intercourse. My penis looks and functions the way nature intended and is protected by my foreskin. I am glad my mother decided not to snip my weenie.

I am so grossed out by the fact that any parent would or wouldn't circumcise their son based on what *they* find sexually attractive. I mean, does it really matter what the parents sexual preference, cut or uncut, is? It's not like the parent will be having sex w/ the kid, so the parent shouldn't be making those decisions based on what they think looks better sexually.

I'm pregnant right now and don't know if it's a girl or boy. I'm undecided, but it seems most of the recommendations are against circumcision. It seems it's not more hygienic for a boy to be cut, that was just a myth that has been debunked. I guess there is something to the locker room theory, but in the US more and more boys are remaining uncut, so I don't think an uncircumcised boy will be in the minority. Actually, in places like CA and WA, only a small percentage of boys get circumcised, most are left intact. So while my husband is cut, I'm leaning more toward leaving the baby uncut if it is a he (well, we won't circumcise a girl either, obviously).

I think it's pretty mean of some people (aka all these women posting here) to say uncircumcised is unatural.

Hello - circumcision is a man-made plastic surgery done after birth, it is not as God (or nature) intended us.

That said, I have been with uncircumcised men and men that have been circumcised. I prefer the latter but I wasn't bothered by the former. I can see in some instances it would be a problem if they didn't clean it properly but it wasn't that way with mean.

I think women who laugh and are disugusted by uncircumcised men are disgusting themselves and should be ashamed of themselves.

That's the same as a man laughing at you because you don't have big perfect breast implants.

Again, I understand why people prefer it to be done but I find it highly judgemental and immature for these women to think they have to right to sneer at it.

Wake up - it IS natural and not exactly the guy's fault that he's not, right?

I guess then that's another argument against it not having them circumcised: women can be right bitches.

When I first heard of the circumcision practice in the US, I was really surprised because, here in Europe, it's only done by Islamic immigrants. It's not something people would do here, because you'd lose a lot of sensitivity, right? When I see circumcised (only on an occasional picture), I don't like the sight of it. A matter of familiarity, I guess? On the other hand, mine happens to look really good as is, so circumcision would be a shame aesthetically.
