Question Of The Day

This question came up because I threw away some pennies at work and a coworker almost had a coronary.

Do you throw away pennies that accumulate?

I throw them out because they are useless to me but it seems I am the only person in the world that throws away pennies.

I'm having a fit over here!

I pick UP pennies. Not toss them... Or I just combine them all into a big fistful of change to pay for something

Somehow I had a feelin' FB would have a fit. I take all change and dump it into a jar. Then, when I can, I deposit the change in the bank and call it a day. A gal has to feed her shoe habit, right? :)

oh god, you're not the only one!
and im even worse- sometimes im cleaning my room and i throw about nickels and dimes! (shh, don't tell!) i know that's horrible and i try not to do that as much anymore since im literally "counting my pennies."

I try to put change into a little "piggy bank" on my dresser. Eventually, along with any other loose change, it all adds up and I roll 'em and take 'em to the bank. (I even pick them up when I see any on the ground too. Along with other change that occasionally finds its way there.)

I do not use them but I do not throw them out. a big jug of pennies paid for one of my vacations.

My roommate throws them away. I think he only does it because he can't figure out that he should put them in a central location and toss them into a coinstar machine every few months. It's such a waste to literally throw money away.

Yes, I have been known to throw away pennies (even dimes and nickels).

You throw away MONEY? I think that is actually illegal.

I've totally done it.....but, now I just toss change in my purse. I think I have enough in there for a down payment on a car at this point.

why would you throw pennies????
send them to me!

I totally keep them. Have a little jar on the dresser and cash 'em in when it's full.

I do not throw away pennies, but when I was younger I used a few of them as weights in a small craft project and got quite the lecture from my dad.

I think that pennies are made at a loss, but more and more of them have to be made because of our custom of keeping large amounts of them in jars and such, so there aren't enough of them in circulation for the stores to use.

I don't see why you should throw them away. I can see why you don't want to carry a lot of them around with you, and you might not like the jar and eventual trip to the Coinstar machine option. But you should at least give them to charity or toss them in fountains or something. Or leave all the extra change you don't want in addition to the tips you usually give a waitress. I bet she has a jar that is waiting for the trip to Coinstar.

Never throw away pennies.

Ever.

They're perfect for sticking into door jams and trapping people in the bathroom.

See? Now they have purpose for you.

Never! It's still money. My parents collected enough change once to help pay for a trip!

Don't you remember the saying....

"Save your pennies."

It's surprising how much money pennies can add up to if you saved them all in a jar and then went to a Coinstar machine or the bank to convert them to notes. :)

I totally keep them and then cash them in at the bank they add up!

I can understand. Pennies multiply like rabbits! I feel the need to get rid of any in my change pocket before they multiply!

But... I do not toss them. We have a change jar - when it is full, my grocery store has a machine to count the dirty filthy....

I don't... I save em and roll em up for when we are going through lean times. Which, surprise surprise! We're going through right now! lol.

I DESPISE pennies. I take great joy in throwing them away.

I will throw them on the street if I'm close, so that someone who may want them might find them... but the trashcan makes a damn good second if I'm not.

Girl you better stop throwing those away!! lol
