I Am Not Cut Out For This

I have a confession to make. I am a cute little puppy dog lover. The cuter the better. I love me some puppies. So much so that I contemplated for ages on how I, a person that is always out and about somewhere and absolutely HATES getting up in the morning, who breaks out into a rash every time I even think about walking a dog, could possibly fit one into my life and home. Oh I thought long and hard folks. It would be so wonderful coming home to this cute little adorable creature that only wants to love you up as soon as they see you.

I'm so obsessed that I would stalk the website of a local pet store here in Maryland, www.justpuppies.com just to drool over the cute little furry babies. Then reality hit.

My brother calls me to ask if I could dog watch his (really my mothers) little bichon for the weekend as he was going away on a ski trip. I said sure, no problem but suddenly realized we were about to be hit with a blizzard that weekend and walking a small dog in 2 feet of snow was not my idea of fun. Then I remembered the last time I dog sat....that damn dog started whining to go out at about 5 am. On a Saturday! When he noticed I was not going to get up to take him out just yet his whines became louder, then when that didn't propel me out of bed his whining became loud constant barking so I had to drag my ass out of bed at O Dark Thirty to take his little ass out to walk. If that wasn't bad enough, EVERY second he was out of my sight that little shit would cock his little leg up to mark his territory....all over my damn house...on my damn rug....on my damn furniture.

I said to myself oh hell no! I took his ass to a doggy boarding facility and boarded him for the entire weekend.

I don't want a puppy right now. Who am I kidding...EVER!!

If I ever feel that ping of dog mommyhood calling I'll just go to Just Puppies and play with one of their puppies.

They are cute, but not for me either!! They are like a child, and I already have two of my own. I hate dog hair, hate when they crap or piss every damn where...Bite or scratch at the furniture. Maybe its because I grew up with animals because my mom and brothers love animals. I aint the one...forreal...I could never dog sit! I dont have the patience (Couldnt even have another kid either) but the dog woulda been in the oven or microwave or even the washer or dryer for that matter by the time the owner got back...again...I aint the one lol

Yup... something like that can make the cutest pup the most unwanted thing in the world...

When my soon-to-be-ex-wife discovered I was allergic to cats, her passive agressiveness came out... and she wound up with EIGHT indoor cats... do you know where EIGHT indoor cats crap and pee???

EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I guess it's up to me to post in the opposite direction here. Although I'm not impressed -not in the least -that our two grown cats, both females and both of which my daughter swore she was going to take steps to get them BOTH fixed - are pregnant! This will make the first litter for Chino, the gray cat, and the third litter in less than a year for Nina, the Orange cat! Plus we also have Fluffer-nutter, the tom-kitten who was by far the cutest of Nina's last litter but who no one wanted to take so we ended up with him. And then there is Sammy, the little mutt (who thankfully is fixed but it's a male and well, that was taken care of by his previous owner too). I love dogs and cats both -dogs more than cats if the truth be told but still I wasn't crazy about taking in this dog, regardless of how cute and sweet he is. I think I'm the only one in the house who actually loves Sammy after his being here for over 3 months now!
He's my "walker." Having him here forces me to take him out and we go for a nice walk, regardless of the weather (unless it's freezing rain). And it all came at just the right time too because my doctor gave me orders to lose some weight and start getting some kind of exercise -like walking -nice easy exercise but still helpful with my health issues. I don't know how much weight I've lost but I can tell by some of my clothing items that I have shed a few pounds now and that's a good thing. Plus, I do feel better, have a bit more energy after having been outside and taking a nice, cold, brisk stroll with him. That and I do enjoy how he curls up on my feet to sleep -helps keep my old feet warmer then during the winter months. And, he is still so darned cute and lovable -and devoted to the grandkids as well as my daughter and especially to me. Now, I need to start finding people who might be interested in acquiring a kitten once these two here start supplying us with more of that commodity! Then, to keep after my daughter to get the both FIXED shortly thereafter as well!

You know I love me some dogs. But they are definitely a ton of responsibility. You have to plan your entire life around them!

Having said that, female dogs mark a lot less than males. And nothing beats the unconditional love either!

I love dogs, but I am in no position to care for them with my income, living situation and schedule. I guess that I will just have to stick to playing with others' dogs.

You are TOO funny! You took the dog to a boarding facility? Did your mom know?

You'll know when the time is right and you feel that instinct to be a doggy mommy. Then again, you may never get the calling.

But you gotta admit, they are cute!

Vietnamese people ALSO love dogs.

Usually with a side of rice.

True story.

Stay away from the puppy. Do not be seduced by the cuteness.

You RAWK for admitting it! There are so many dogs up for adoption on our base because people say, "Oh, isn't he cute" and then reality sets in. (I know there's legitimate issues like allergies, personality conflicts).
I'm really wanting a dog, but I don't like early saturdays either.
