Day 1 - When Someone Asks For Your Opinion Are You Always Honest?

Hi Bloghearts! Today marks the first day of my 30 Day Blog Challenge. I had such a ball doing it before that I decided to do it again. So today's topic is giving your opinion. When doing so are you always honest with the person that asked you?

For me it depends on the person asking. If its a relative or friend I am very honest. Not brutally but with tact. If someone asks me about their significant other I am very honest on what I think. If they ask me about an outfit they are planning on wearing I am very honest.

Let me give you an example of such an incident. Crazy, Clueless and I were in my car driving to a function we were attending. Clueless asks me what I think on the recent research that wearing bras can contribute to breast cancer. I told her that I think it's disgusting to go braless. It's tasteless to go around flopping in the wind and that little research wasn't enough to make me change my mind. Crazy pipes up from the back seat and says, "Well I think if it saves lives I'm not wearing a bra any more." I said," Eeeeiiiiwwwww! That's disgusting. I can never see just having the girls flopping every which way." She said, "There are cultures that don't believe in wearing bras." I said, "We are not there. We are in America and in America we wear bras." She got really quiet, I guess because she was mad that I didn't agree with her. I'm not the type of person that jumps on the bandwagon of every crazy research or fad. Come on now.

Another friend of mine told me what she was planning on naming her son when he was born and I immediately said, "Eeeiiiwwww! Are you serious? That is a horrible name." If you don't want the truth don't ask me.

On the other hand, if we are talking about clients or my bosses, then I might not be as honest as previously mentioned. That might not be in my best interest.

Are you always honest with people when giving them your opinion?

I think women should go braless no matter what the health condition is.

Stuffy nose, indigestion..whatever. FREE THE GIRLS!

LMAO @ Moooooog35...

Honesty... I have found that I am careful with other's feelings... so I may not be quite so blunt. I think I tend to find a "nice way" to tell someone something that they may not want to hear...

Unless they've pissed me off... :oD

that is a good question. I think I am the most honest with my husband and kids beyond that I think I try not to hurt peoples feelings or I just don't have an opinion!

I'm always honest, but I will adjust my delivery depending on how well I know the other person. If they are the super sensitive type, I'll be as gentle as possible. If they can take it straight, then I'll give it to them hard.

i try to be honest but not blunt. I know people who upset people by being so bluntly honest - i try and soften the blow... but then i hate upsetting people.

Tact is not always one of my strong points but I do try to be as tactful as possible and yet, honest too. My kids know I generally say what I think, straight out -except with my older daughter who tends to get pissy if you are really straight-forward with her. Now, as to the comment about not wearing a bra to cure health issues, I'm thinking maybe that's exactly what I need to try to get rid of the damned sinus issues that have been plaguing me since early September! It's about the only thing I haven't tried so who knows, maybe that's the answer!
