What was I thinking!?

I went to DSW Shoes the other day and bought 3 pairs of shoes. I sooooo needed new shoes. Anyway. I purchased a comfortable pair of black sling backs (sorry guys, this is an estrogen thing so if you don't know what a sling back is...that's normal). Today is the first day I decided to wear them. I thoughtfully laid out my outfit and carefully got dressed this morning all excited about wearing my brand new shoes for the first time with my new pair of black slacks and new multi-colored sleeveless blouse. I am looking so cute today!!!! LOL

I arrive at work and open my car door and swing my feet out in preparation to step out onto the pavement when I looked down and was in total horror! I could not believe what I was seeing. I blinked several times really hard hoping that my eyes were just not focused properly.

I looked at my shoes.....and they were.....oh goodness can I even say it???!!!! They were BLUE!!!!! Yes! I purchased blue shoes thinking they were black! The problem is that I an wearing black today! Blue shoes are a kiss of death!!!

Needless to say I have been camped out at my desk all day except for mandatory bathroom breaks at which time I make a quick be-line right to the bathroom scurrying as fast as I can looking all preoccupied and whatnot so that no one will stop me to hold a conversation.

Is this day over yet!!!??? If one person asks me if I know that my shoes are blue instead of black I will melt them instantly with the laser death rays emitting from my eyes.

I am not a shoe person. My husband would probably not agree, as I constantly seem to be buying the same pair of black shoes over and over again, but most of that has to with my weight going up and down more than because I like shoes.

Anyway, several years ago I had a job at a library that was very casual dress. Jeans and sneakers kind of casual dress. So I wear these black walking shoes to work. When I garden or something, I wear last year's black walking shoes.

So I had to do something in the garden before I went to work. Just took five minutes, but I didn't want to get mud on my shoes, so I changed into the gardening shoes. And then I forgot to change back, and so not only did I wear the ugly old shoes to work but I had mud on them too. I just sort of spent the day hiding behind bookshelves and giant planters, but no one seemed to notice.

The other thing about shoes is if you really find a comfortable pair of shoes that you are happy with, when it comes on sale you should go and buy that same pair in other colors. So this bitch that was head of my department, who is not allowed to wear casual clothes, had this same pair of shoes in like four or five colors. Navy blue shoes look a lot like black shoes when you not paying attention, but she somehow ended up at work wearing one blue shoe and one black shoe. Cool. I don't like for people to be embarassed, but she's such a bitch and she deserves much worse.

Being a show addict I can completely and utterly understand what total horror you are feeling..just breathe slowly and think good thoughts...primarily that this, too, shall pass...

I haven't worn mis-matching shoes or the wrong color of shoes before but I have done that lots of times with socks. I have some dark navy and black socks that look exactly the same until I get to work and then you can tell the difference.
I love shoes.

One of my co-workers showed up with one brown & one black shoe (same style). So, your situation isn't so bad. At least you noticed before someone said something.

if you didnt notice at first, probably no one else would! Or maybe people will start wearing blue shoes, thinking you are in style with a new trend! I'm not sure I have ever had blue shoes unless they were my running shoes!

I am so out of my element here, for the same reason that "In My Shoes" is a 100% toxic chick flick.

But I did once wear some really ratty garden shoes to something that needed something better (church maybe?). The "hide your feet" act really only works if you are a Vorlon.

Haha... That's ok. Just say you made a mistake and laugh about it. Or just tell them the tag on the shoes said blue... Haha...

That is too funny! I can top that...one day at school, when I was sitting with my legs crossed at my desk....I noticed something horrifying. I had on two different shoes! Is that a statement to the hecticness of my mornings or what? Try explaining that one away!

way back in the 80's I had a pair of navy pumps to go with my navy "power suit"

Of course, I also had a black pair of the same pumps (because they were comfortable)

Oh, you already know the punch-line.

Like someone else said, no one probably noticed. probably. ;)

Oh lord! That is THE WORST! I am a firm believer that black and navy blue DO NOT go together. I'm so happy I found someone else who thinks the same!

P.S. Next time that happens, just walk really fast. Maybe no one will notice...haha.
