This is just ridiculous!

Ok, I just heard on the news this morning that a middle school child in Vienna, VA was sent to the prinicpal's office because he put his arm around his little girlfriend. Apparently this school has a no touching policy. WHAT!!!! Excuse me!!! No touching policy?

According to the new rules, no one is to touch any one for any reason whatsoever. No hugging, no hi-fiving, no handshaking......NOTHING!

Is that the most asinine rule you have ever heard or is it me?

Geesh!

ms.b she AIN'T kidding...MASS HYSTERIA IN EVERYTHING. The schools are afraid of sexual harrassment lawsuits because parents forget that kids are kids and just the fact of another child touching their child is TOO MUCH. See...see what we're doing... it's crazy.

My youngest son, who was six at the time, got into trouble once because he asked to touch his white classmates hair...she said yes and he did...and OH-MY-GOODNESS, the teacher said she wanted him out of her (prodominately white) class. WELCOME TO CRAZY WORLD

I live in the area, and yes it is absolutely true. People here are pretty outraged about it, since hugging can be such a crucial component of socialization.

I don't get it either. What happens if your friend is having a bad day, or if he/she is crying? Does that also mean you can't hug them, or put your arm around them to comfort them? APparently in this case..yes. Sad..but true.

can you say overkill? schools go overboard because they think they have to make a rule to cover every little situation that crops up...believe me as a teacher, i see it happen all the time...

here's another example...i was talking to a friend on the phone awhile back and i was telling her that i had gotten my nose pierced...i told her that i was going to have to take it out at school but that was okay...i knew that going in...she told me that at her daughter's high school, the kids are not allowed any piercings period...they are not even allowed to wear earrings!!! oh please! :P

And we wonder what's wrong wih the world...HA!

No hand shaking...WTF is that about? That was one of the firt things I was taught after I learned to walk & talk...when you meet someone for the first time, the polite thing to do is shake their hand & say "please to meet you".

This is the type of crap that de-socializes our children, cause them to grow up to be un-feeling, using men or permiscous women who sleep with anybody just to be shown some type of affection.

And this is why it is so important for those of us who have children to hug them, kiss them, and tell them we love them every chance we get.

That seems so absurd to me....i's kinda sweet that he had his arm around her...it's not like he was groping her...

as an educator, yes things are out of hand right now because schools are scared of lawsuits.

As a parent, I can appreciate the rule. Kids need to be in school learning not all hugged up. I guess because I used to work with high school students and those are the HORNIEST little muthafudges I've ever seen in my life. Besides me of course! LOL

Seriously speaking we ran a 6 week program and by day 3 kids were already hooked and plotting their meet me in the back of the tent sessions. I was NOT having it. Ya'll came here UNpregnant and I be damned if you get knocked up on my watch. It was stressful. Urrgh! just thinking of it makes my head hurt.

p.s. the rule is there for a reason. i think it started out as a precaution and they just threw the damn kitchen sink in there too. LOL

p.s.s. I hate seeing ass cheeks and midrifts too. damn, i must be an old hag!!! LOL

Oh my goodness...that's just dumb.

touching is one of the basic forms of expression. what are they supposed to do when they greet each other? the head nod action? no handshakin. no cpr if someone is choking? no helping someone up if they fall on the ground? wow...jack ass central.
