Day 5 - My Blog Name

So today I am supposed to explain how I came up with my blog's name.

It's pretty simple actually. When I started this blog it was with the intent of just jotting down random thoughts and experiences. Whatever came to mind, just life's happenings. So I came up with the name The Diva's Random Thoughts.

How did you come up with your blog name?

I have two blogs. My first is called Lose the Excuses because that is the name of my life coaching business. I liked the name because it also reflected my philosophy: lose the excuses and get busy creating the life you want to live.

My second is called DivaSoulSista. For 5 years it was a movie review site before I retired it. I recently started it as a movie and television news and reviews blog.

I came up with the name around 2001. I was on Napster (remember that!) and I didn't want to use my real name as my user name. I wanted to be just Diva or Diva2000 but those were taken. Then I tried SoulSista#1 but that was taken too. So I combined Diva with SoulSista and have been DivaSoulSista ever since!

My name came from Myspace. When Myspace was the big thing. I wanted UrbanQueen as my name. Cause 1. I am a queen and 2. I live in the city. Well, it was taken and I got upset. So, I added the TRUE because I am the real urban queen. HAHA.

It has stuck with me.

Well, first off the area where I live is commonly referred to as being the "Down River" region of the West Branch of the Susquehanna -meaning primarily it is down river of Clearfield -our county seat. This area extends roughly from Philipsburg -a nearby town -down to Karthaus, which is at the edge of the county and is actually on the banks of the West Branch. Now, if you ask most anyone from this area if they feel like second-class citizens because our local newspaper tends to ignore our existence, they will almost all give you a resounding "YES!" That, plus the fact I've always been notorious for being a "talker" and one who can spout a lot of "drivel" -usually a lot of words but of not that much consequence, so I figured that "Down River Drivel" was an appropriate name for a big mouth person like me!

My blog name had some varieties, but in the end it's all about me and what I do and the stuff that goes on in my life.
