Day 8 - Who Was Your Arch Enemy in School?

Oh I remember my arch enemy very well. Her name was Lisa and we were 10 years old and in the 5th grade together. I couldn't stand that girl. She made my life hell. She thought she was better then me and all I wanted to do was punch her in the face but I wasn't the violent type.

One day she decided she wanted to pick a fight with me. All day she kept saying little rude and nasty things and I just ignored her. I had on a dress that day and I was being a lady.

When school was out and I was walking to the car to go home she and her little groupies followed me all the way through the school yard to where the smaller kids were where I was to meet my little sister. She was still yammering in my ear and all I kept thinking was that I was wearing a dress and I didn't want to fight her at that moment but I was truly tempted.

The year before I fought a girl by the name of Olivia Logan and whupped her ass. Lisa's little cronies began saying to her that maybe she should leave me alone because I did beat up Olivia. I think she came to her senses because she did eventually back off.

The next day at school I made sure I wore pants so that I could kick Lisa's ass but she never said anything to me. She didn't so much as glance in my direction that whole day. I was a little disappointed though because I actually wanted to fight her. Yeah, I was a feisty little 10 year old.
Lisa, if you are reading this now I am wearing pants today. What's up?

Do all people have arch enemies? I don't think I have ever had one. Sure I had petty fights with girls here and there, but nothing drawn out and systemic.

I think I was just a good two shoe.

I never had any one person that I could say was my "enemy" all through school. There were four girls on the road where I live (me and three others) and we were all the same age. Three of us lived side-by-side with the fourth one living about 3 houses up from us so generally the four of us played together and walked to school and back together -or to the bus stop when we got in Jr and Sr High. Now occasionally we would get into a petty squabble but our fights were always divided with the two girls who were Catholic together and the other two of us -who were Lutheran -being together. Thankfully, those fights usually ended as quickly as they began and today, one girl lives in Virginia -outside D.C., one lives about 2 miles from me and the third girl lives 2 doors from me -same as she did when we were kids and we're still best of friends too. (Same goes for the one who lives two miles from me and who grew up in between me and the other girl who is still my neighbor -all of us, still very good friends. After 60 some years, I think that's a pretty good track record!

I don't remember any enemies either. I had a frenemy in Jr High though. She always wanted to sit by me on the bus & I saved her seat every day. I don't know why because I am sure we both know that I didn't like her. I had quite a few friends on the bus & she didn't have any. I guess that is why she kept it up. I kind of felt sorry for her even though I wasn't that nice about it.
